Judge Campbell was appointed as a Circuit Judge to Division 10 by Governor Jay Nixon on March 6, 2013.   Judge Campbell had previously served for six years as a Family Court Commissioner in Division 43.   He was appointed to that position by the Jackson County Circuit Court judges in December 2006. Judge Campbell retired as circuit judge on February 20, 2023. After retiring, he founded Mainspring Mediation Group, LLC and launched a new career assisting litigants with alternative dispute services.

Judge Campbell is a graduate of UMKC where he earned a J.D. degree in 1990, and bachelor degrees in the Administration of Justice and Political Science.  He served as law clerk to the Honorable Robert Ulrich at the Missouri Court of Appeals in 1990-91. He practiced law in Jackson County from 1991 until 2006, when he began service on the bench. He is a life-long resident of Jackson County, Missouri.
